The Southeast Alabama Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Central Alabama Community Foundation and offers citizens in the Wiregrass region the opportunity to build long-term support for their community. Individuals may establish new funds to support specific purposes or organizations, or they may contribute to existing funds.
Established in 1995 by community leaders, SACF serves the five-county Wiregrass region of Henry, Houston, Coffee, Dale and Geneva counties. SACF's Advisory Board of area citizens oversees an annual grantmaking program that determines the best investment of these community dollars.
Southeast Alabama Community Foundation’s (SACF) 6th Annual Half Marathon & 5K presented by Flowers Hospital will be Saturday, January 28 at 8:00 a.m. Registration is now open at www.sacfhalfmarathon.org. More than $120,000 has been raised the past 5 years for nonprofit grants in the Wiregrass.
SACF awarded $40,000 in 2016 community trust grants to nonprofits such as Boys & Girls Clubs of the Wiregrass for their Healthy Lifestyles project which offers dancing as exercise; Enterprise Public Library to create an early literacy station for children that might not have access to a computer at home; and Alzheimer's Resource Center, Inc. for educational materials that are provided to caregivers at no charge.
